I was looking through some things and I came across something I had not heard of but I am glad I saw it. Gary Sinise is doing some things that I never new about. His organization is helping the many Veterans around the world and is taking it a step further, he is also helping the families of those Veterans. I have heard of the Gary Sinise Band but have never heard them play. I now have something else on my bucket list, see this band.
Gary Sinise and his foundation are doing incredible things for the amputee veterans. As they say in this video, they now feel like they have a life and can function. They have custom built homes to help them get through the day to day grind and helps them function as close to what we would call normal as possible. The foundation is giving back to these men and women what we take for granted everyday. Something as simple as opening the door and taking a shower is something we never think about and now with his help, many of these vets have to think just a little less about how they are going to do this in their own homes.

Supporting the Families
The thing I like the most about this program as I researched it was the fact that he is not only taking care of the individual but what is important to that Veteran, the family. He is supporting them with programs for feeding the families and also programs for the kids. It is easy to look at the Veteran and try to figure out how to help them but to go a step or two beyond and try to help the families is a very insightful thing in my mind.
Gary Sinise Foundation Intro
The Tour of a Lifetime
Gary Sinise has taken his role as Lt Dan from the movie Forrest Gump and turned it into one of the most positive situations one could think of. This role according to him pretty much changed his life in a very positive way. I am very happy to see how he as turned this one simple role into such an extremely positive role for our Veterans. Recently he took a few Vets to Hollywood all expenses paid to give them something many of us dream of. I have always liked Gary Sinise and since finding this one story and researching more about the foundation, I have a whole new respect for him.
